New Approved Software Menu

August, 2022

A new software menu is now available for teachers on the RNESU website. It is available on both the Curriculum page, as well as on the Technology page. You are also able to access it by clicking here. This software menu has been designed so that it is easier for teachers to access and utilize. Only softwares that have been approved are available on this menu. It is organized into different categories. Those categories are: engagement; communication; video; ELA; math; social studies, science, SEL; computer science; art; music; health; foreign language; intervention; ELL; speech; SPED; research; utility; productivity; IT; and contingent softwares (contingent softwares are softwares that are approved but an IT ticket needs to be put in to get it to work).

The menu was designed for ease of use for teachers (see image below). Within each category the software is listed and the link to the site is available by clicking on the name of the program. There is then a description of what the software does; as well as, whether the software can be used by primary or secondary students. The final column is if there is a cost associated with the software – please note that for programs that have both free and premium versions the cost column will still say “N” as the free version is usable.

The reason that this new software menu was designed was to make the softwares that have been approved accessible to teachers. By categorizing, organizing and updating the menu, it reduces the time that it will take teachers to search through the menu to see if a program has already been approved. It also will allow teachers to discover softwares that they might not have known about before, but other teachers in the district were using. As always, new softwares can be added to this menu by submitting a software request form.
